1. What is an eSIM? Can I use it without a physical SIM card?

eSIM stands for embedded Subscriber Identity Module. Unlike a physical SIM card, it's built into your phone and doesn’t need to be inserted or removed.

Most new phones support eSIM.

※ iPhones sold in the U.S. from iPhone 14 and up only support eSIM.

2. Why is it good to install the eSIM in the U.S. before traveling?

You can safely install the eSIM on your phone before leaving the U.S.

6. Can I use the eSIM or SIM card (airport pickup) right after arriving in Korea?

Yes, you can use it immediately.

For eSIM: You can install the eSIM on your phone before leaving the U.S. With just a few taps during your flight, your phone will be connected as soon as you land.

※ If you want to use voice/text services, visit the SKT roaming center at the airport for passport verification and charge the amount for outgoing call/texts.

For SIM card (airport pickup): Order in advance from the U.S., then show your voucher and passport at the SKT roaming center in the airport to receive your SIM card. Insert it into your phone and you're ready to go.

7. How long is the eSIM or SIM card (airport pickup) valid?

Both eSIM and SIM cards are valid for 1 year from the order date.

After 1 year, the eSIM QR code cannot be scanned.

For SIM cards, you won’t be able to pick them up after 1 year.

Even if already picked up, unused SIM cards cannot be activated after the expiration date.
