Starting in 2026, regulations regarding lithium batteries and portable power banks on aircraft have been further strengthened.
1️⃣ Transportation Restrictions on Wireless Heat-Generating Electronic Devices
❌ Not allowed in both carry-on and checked baggage
– Products with non-removable lithium batteries
– Cordless hair curlers (including brush types)
– Cordless irons
⭕ Exceptionally permitted (airline approval required)
– Products with removable batteries
– Products equipped with a physical battery disconnection function (fuse cut-off)
👉 Only allowed in carry-on baggage after prior airline approval (not permitted in checked baggage)
⚠️ Button-type or lock-type “airplane mode” functions are not accepted for transport
2️⃣ Complete Restriction on In-Flight Use of Portable Power Banks
❌ Use of portable power banks is prohibited onboard
– Charging mobile phones
– Charging tablets
– Charging other electronic devices
⭕ If charging is necessary
– Use the in-flight charging port installed at your seat
– However, some aircraft may not have charging ports depending on the model

✔ Cordless hair curler → Confirm whether the battery is removable
✔ Portable power bank → Not allowed for use during the flight
✔ For long flights → Fully charge before departure
✔ Check in advance whether in-flight charging ports are available

– U.S. departure → Korea arrival long-haul flights are 10–13 hours
– If including connections, charging planning is essential
– Especially if you plan to use the internet immediately upon arrival in Korea
