1. What is an eSIM? Can I use it without a physical SIM card?

eSIM stands for embedded Subscriber Identity Module. Unlike a physical SIM card, it's built into your phone and doesn’t need to be inserted or removed.

Most new phones support eSIM.

※ iPhones sold in the U.S. from iPhone 14 and up only support eSIM.

2. Why is it good to install the eSIM in the U.S. before traveling?

You can safely install the eSIM on your phone before leaving the U.S.

6. Can I use the eSIM or SIM card (airport pickup) right after arriving in Korea?

Yes, you can use it immediately.

For eSIM: You can install the eSIM on your phone before leaving the U.S. With just a few taps during your flight, your phone will be connected as soon as you land.

※ If you want to use voice/text services, visit the SKT roaming center at the airport for passport verification and charge the amount for outgoing call/texts.

For SIM card (airport pickup): Order in advance from the U.S., then show your voucher and passport at the SKT roaming center in the airport to receive your SIM card. Insert it into your phone and you're ready to go.

7. How long is the eSIM or SIM card (airport pickup) valid?

Both eSIM and SIM cards are valid for 1 year from the order date.

After 1 year, the eSIM QR code cannot be scanned.

For SIM cards, you won’t be able to pick them up after 1 year.

Even if already picked up, unused SIM cards cannot be activated after the expiration date.

빠른 인터넷 속도와 하루 사용량 제한이 없다는 점이 마음에 들어서 한달 한국 여행을 준비하면서 Y CONNECT KOREA 공항 픽업 심카드를 이용했습니다. 미국에서 미리 주문해두니 마음도 편했고, 도착 전에 받은 바우처 바코드를 인천공항 SKT 로밍센터에서 보여주고 바로 수령할 수 있어서 정말 편리했습니다. 대기 시간도 거의 없이 바로 심카드를 받아서 바로 개통할 수 있었어요. 심카드를 넣자마자 별다른 설정 없이 바로 LTE가 잡혔고 속도도 빠르고 안정적이었습니다. 한국에 도착하자마자 미국에서 쓰던 우버(Uber) 앱을 그대로 사용해서 바로 택시도 호출할 수 있었던 점이 특히 편리했습니다. 지도 검색, 카톡, 사진 업로드 등도 끊김 없이 잘 되었고 여행 내내 속도 제한이나 감속이 없어서 스트레스 없이 이용할 수 있었습니다. 또 하나 좋았던 점은 맛집 예약 문자 수신이 완벽하게 잘 된다는 것이었습니다. 한국은 식당 예약 후 확인 문자나 알림을 많이 보내주는데, 이런 문자 수신이 모두 문제 없이 잘 되어 정말 만족스러웠습니다. 여행 일정 동안 큰 도움이 되었어요. 30일 가격도 합리적이고, 공항에서 바로 수령해 바로 인터넷을 사용할 수 있다는 점이 정말 큰 장점입니다. 이번 한국 여행 동안 너무 편하게 잘 사용해서 다음에 한국 갈 때도 또 이용하려고 합니다. 주변에도 추천하고 싶을 만큼 만족도가 높았습니다!
